Drug Uses
Aygestin is used for treatment of certain menstrual problems or uterine problems (e.g., abnormal bleeding, endometriosis). It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How Taken
Aygestin may be taken with or without a meal. Take this medication at about the same time every day, with doses not more than 24 hours apart. Talk to your doctor about the dosage suitable for you.

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose take it as soon as you remember. However if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the Missed Dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

More Information
Aygestin may cause dizziness. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Aygestin with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it. Do not share this medicine with others for whom it was not prescribed. Do not use this medicine for other health conditions. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor

Storage
Store Aygestin at room temperature, between 68 – 77 °F (20 – 25 °C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Aygestin out of the reach of children.

Warnings/Precautions
Before taking Aygestin, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances, if you have diabetes, seizures (e.g., epilepsy), migraines, asthma, heart problems, kidney problems, or a history of depression, if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are breast–feeding. Do not use Aygestin if you are pregnant. If you think you may be pregnant, contact your doctor right away. Aygestin is found in breast milk. If you are or will be breast–feeding while you use Aygestin, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby. Some medicines may interact with Aygestin, therefore tell your doctor of all prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement that you are taking. Aygestin may cause dark patches on your face. Avoid the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you react to Aygestin. Use a sunscreen or wear protective clothing if you must be outside for more than a short time. Do not take Aygestin if you have vaginal bleeding of unknown cause, or if you have a history of blood clots, bleeding in the brain (e.g., stroke), liver problems, known or suspected breast cancer, or genital cancer. Aygestin is not indicated for treatment of children, safety and effectiveness in children have not been confirmed.

Possible Side Effects
Some of the Possible Side Effects are- Acne, changes in menstrual flow, including breakthrough bleeding, spotting, or missed periods, dizziness, drowsiness, fever, headache, hot flashes, nausea, nervousness, pain, rash, sleeplessness, stomach pain, weakness, weight gain or loss. Contact your doctor if any of these or other side effects occur. If you experience any of the following serious side effects, you should seek medical attention immediately- allergic reactions (rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue), chest pain, depression, lumps in the breast or under the armpits, migraine headache, partial or complete loss of vision or changes in vision, shortness of breath, slurred speech, sudden loss of coordination, sudden or severe headache, swelling of fingers or ankles, tenderness, pain, or swelling of the calf, weakness, numbness, or pain in the arms or legs, yellowing of the skin or eyes.
